My Bookshelf - want a book?

Friday, 8th October 2004 | 10:53 PM
Cracked heel, Wimbledon, money

It's bliss to have a day off on a weekday. I kept thinking today's a Saturday, heheh.

Today wasn't a total waste. Woke up with a painfully cracked heel, so I guess I had to skip yoga class. I know, I'm just creating excuses for myself, but I was limping like some troll. I could barely walk around my flat, let alone go for a 1 1/2 hour session of yoga in town. Showered by standing on one leg... then spent most of the day sitting or lying down, periodically rubbing lotion on my heel. (Body Shop African Spa stuff. Heaven.)

But... this evening went out with Z to watch Wimbledon. I told her I couldn't go anywhere far, and I couldn't walk much. So we had an unhealthy dinner, and watched the movie. It was pretty good actually. Nothing to wow about, but just the stuff I like. A simple, good story. Paul Bettany was good-looking in the guy next door kinda' way, I was swooning more for whoever it was that guy who's his German training partner. And I tolerated Kirsten Dunst. She's the biggest name in this movie, but she didn't quite carry the movie.

Sorry, I'm sure she's nice, probably, but I really don't see her star appeal. I don't think she's that gorgeous, nor do I find her charming. *shrug*

Go watch it if you're into romantic comedies. The movie's predictable fluff, almost Notting Hill set in Wimbledon ;). But entertaining in it's simplicity.

Boy, was I shocked to see so many guestbook messages and emails this morning following my BookCrossing announcement! So thanks Alison, Molly and Cindy. Alison and Molly, I already have the books reserved for you. Cindy - thanks for all the messages. Glad you like what I'm writing, and I hope you keep on reading. By the way people, I'm continuing to add books onto that list, so do check back from time to time to see what I've got. :)

I think I'm developing a crush on John Edwards. Can't believe the man's older than my parents (who aren't 50 yet).

My insurance company sent me a letter today regarding an application I just sent last week for an insurance-linked savings plan. Apparently, due to increased risk no thanks to my obesity, AIA will have to add $0.60 to the monthly premium already agreed upon. FREAKING 60 CENTS PER MONTH. That's how much of an extra risk my weight is to them.

I guess I shouldn't complain so much, because it could be worse.

And now I must go give some TLC to my cracked heel. Thanks for reading. :)
