My Bookshelf - want a book?

Weekend - shopping and family visits

So... there goes another weekend where I hardly did anything. Well, not really. I went shopping yesterday at the mall. I can't believed I spent four hours there, just shopping alone. I was mainly hunting for my new phone, but when I got to the shop they told me they didn't have stock of it left! I can't believe it! How hot can one phone be? Everyone - go get other phones! That cool Samsung slide-phone or whatever. Leave my Sony Ericsson K700i for me!

I'm a bit annoyed, because I suspect it's just MY mobile service provider and it's retail agents which are low on stock on the phones, because their competitors are slashing their prices on the phones right now, and my provider's price remains high last I checked. Egads. I was so pissed and disappointed, and the lady I spoke to at that phone shop didn't seem to care that I really wanted that phone (note: I saved for MONTHS to be able to afford this phone). In fact, she didn't look like she cared if I even bought a phone at her shop. So I was like, eh, whatever. Singapore isn't that small, and there are many shops selling mobile phones. I'm quite sure I can find what I want elsewhere.

Hopefully.

Then I spent time at the Body Shop buying stuff I'd run out of - skincare and makeup, mainly. Spent so much they gave me free gifts. What the heck, I'm inundated by their free gifts. I think I will drop by their spa soon for a massage. Maybe after stock take next week.

Had udon at the food court, and let's just say it will be a while before I will choose to patronise that stall again. The service was dismal. Gosh, would it hurt for the people to look like they cared about their customers rather than look like they're doing their customers a favour by tending to them? Next time I'll go for my favourite handmade noodles, although the udon was okay.

Today two of my cousins came to visit with their families. They spent a while here, and I spent time with my nephew and nieces. As usual, the kids were enamoured with our artificial waterfall/pond, and they insisted on feeding (and feeding and feeding) the fish. We have very shy fish who would withdraw from the more open areas of of the pond whenever they sensed anyone nearby. And the kids kept throwing the fish food pellets into the water, probably puzzled as to why the fish aren't eating. They're probably used to voracious kois in the public feeding areas, where one buys some fish food for a buck or two, and stands by a pond feeding them to ravenous kois or whatever fish, who would get on top of one another for their share.

It's nice to be entertained by kids, and chatting with my cousins, aunt and uncle. The subject of my parents selling the flat came up. I'm gradually accepting the fact, but let's just say I'm doing grudgingly. Very grudgingly.

When I couldn't get my phone yesterday I almost got a digital camera instead. Sony is having a sale now and that camera at that price is quite hard to resist, but I managed. I didn't want to make big purchases impulsively. Actually, this is my dream digital camera, but it costs quite a bit and I wonder when will be the day I would have enough money for it. Anyway, I need a new cellphone more than I need a new camera (I think).

One step at a time. Sigh. Back to work tomorrow. Work, and all the stress. I'm meeting the girlfriends for dinner and a little get-together. This would probably be the last time all of us can get together, since half the group are already married, or have immediate plans to do so soon. There are times when I wonder, what's the rush? But there are times when I think I may be the one missing out.
