My Bookshelf - want a book?

Wednesday, 26th October 2005 | 9:35 PM
Short random ramble

I can't believe Ramadan is ending soon, and that Hari Raya is next week. Where did the time go? Time just flies by so fast!

The next NaNoWriMo begins again soon. I don't even know if I would have the time to participate, but I've signed up again, maybe foolishly.

My boss is still away in Europe. But that doesn't mean he hasn't been hounding us still with daily calls and emails. Sometimes you just hate modernisation.

I'm still so overwhelmed at work. I foresee myself putting in a lot of extra hours at work once Hari Raya is over. Good thing I took a couple of days off for the holidays.

I've been a bit weepy lately. On Sunday I needed to get new glasses, and I asked my sis to go with me. She said she couldn't because she had to bake cakes for Hari Raya. But half an hour later I found her getting ready to go out with her boyfriend. It's ridiculous, but I felt so hurt at what she did that I cried.

Not like she cared.

But I guess I was right after all. In this family, I only have obligation to my parents. Because they raised me and educated me, and love me unconditionally. My siblings seem only to remember me when there's no one else to turn to. I'm just sick of being the only person my parents can rely on in this family.

Then last night I watched a short animated film on The Battle at Bukit Chandu, and as usual, it moved me to tears. As far as wars and battles go, maybe that was just a short blip in history, but that doesn't make what the soldiers do any less brave or heroic.

And now I plan to shower and go to bed early because I've been missing my alarm in the morning and oversleeping. I can't afford to take the cab to work all the time.
